What are QR Codes?

You've probably seen these black and white squares before like these below. It's called a QR code (Quick Response code) and it’s used as a shortcut to link to online content using your smart phone's camera.

Want to scan QR Codes with your phone?

If you see a QR code somewhere and wish to scan it...You’ll need a smart phone and an app that can read QR codes in order to use them.  Depending on what type of phone you have will determine what the best app is to use. We suggest the following free apps that you can download onto your smart phone:

Which one to download?

  • ANDROID PHONES: Using the android marketplace app search for ‘google goggles’ which will let you scan both QR codes and regular barcodes.
  • WINDOWS PHONE: Go to http://gettag.mobi  to download an app called Microsoft Tag.
  • IPHONE: In the apple app store search for ‘google goggles’ or you could also try ‘QRReader’
  • BLACKBERRY: In the Blackberry App World search for ‘Neo Reader’
  • NOKIA: In the Ovi store search for ‘upCode’

Once you’ve downloaded a code reader app for your smart phone, open up the app and scan a QR code. It should automatically take a picture of the QR code once you’ve lined it up correctly on your phone’s camera.

Now you can keep up to speed and connect with the world around you through your mobile phone!
